One of the most
respected professions in Pakistan is that of a doctor. Pakistani people have a
deep respect for these hard-working heroes and, thus, countless students aspire
to become doctors themselves.
Many parents and
guardians set the standard of becoming a doctor on their children. This is
harmful and almost always bears negative results. If you know that this is not
the profession for you, you should back off. Instead, you should choose what
feels right for you.
If you have what it
takes to become a doctor in Pakistan, then here are the steps you will have to
follow:
1.
Developing the required skills
In Pakistan, being a doctor requires intense
focus. You need to be able to perform your best for an extended period of time
without breaks, especially if you intend to become a surgeon. You must develop
excellent reading skills along with interpersonal skills. This is because
doctors are, ultimately, who patients seek the most comfort and reassurance
from.
Although it sometimes seems like this is a
glamorous profession, the reality is quite different. Doctors don’t have it
easy. You need to be ready to get called into work at any time and you will
often be required to work for an exhaustingly long period at a time. You will
sometimes have to miss out on family events and other personal matters. A
doctor must be dedicated to their work.
3.
Pursuing
the right education
Most students know that they have to study MBBS
to become a doctor. You will also be called a doctor if you study pharmacy or
earn any Ph.D. degree. However, an MBBS doctor is what most people aspire to
be. MBBS stands for Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery. This is a
complicated field of education and you will have to be extremely hardworking to
earn this degree.
Nevertheless, getting an admission in a
prestigious MBBS program means that you need excellent grades in your FSc (or
A-Levels). There’s a lot of hard work you will need to do in order to achieve
good marks, like studying for past papers. Federal Board past papers, Lahore
Board past papers, Karachi Board past papers, etc. are hard to find as solved
past papers. You need to make sure that you’re doing your best.
4.
Studying
hard with good materials
Before you can become a great doctor, you need
to be a great student. Many students slip up in intermediate, especially in the
pre-medical stream. You need to study devotedly and equip your exam preparation
with good past papers. Tutoria.pk’s past papers, like FBISE 11th class pastpapers or Lahore Board 12th class past papers, will help you keep your exam
preparation in top shape and become an MBBS student.
5.
Receiving
medical training by working house jobs/internships
Probably, you already know that house
jobs/internships are the most important part of your medical training. Every
MBBS student has to complete medical training before they’re considered
professionals. This training allows you to develop an understanding of what
this profession is like. House jobs/internships typically entail interns
learning from -- or “shadowing” -- experienced doctors.
Although the journey to
becoming a good doctor is grueling and difficult, you should not lose motivation.
This is a very noble profession. It’s also rewarding, both psychologically and
financially, if you do things the right way. Knowing that you’re making an
impact on healthcare in your country as a doctor is undoubtedly one of the most
elevating feelings.
Good luck!
